To celebrate Cycle Superstore’s sponsorship of the final round of this year’s kids Fixx cup, Cycle SuperStore team member and Cyclecross veteran Mick Jordan gives his Top 5 cyclocross tips;

  1. Get A Good Start. A good start to a race, is key to having a good race. Practice your standing starts. sprint hard for 15 seconds, recover for 30 seconds and practice again
  2. Keep Up Your Momentum. Cyclocross is about keeping up your momentum in the turns and not slowing down too much.
  3. Tyre Pressure. You don’t want your wheels spinning. Let some air out of you tyres, this will enable you to have more grip for cornering and less chance of you slipping out
  4. Be Prepared To Run. You will have to run with your bike at some stage. If you get caught in traffic or a crash occurs in front of you, get off your bike and run around them. Once your past, jump back on the bike
  5. Save something for the last lap. Other riders often fade towards the end, so try and make your last lap one of your quickest.
